Applications of Reverberation
Chamber: Standardized Measurement
■ Sound absorption coefficient
of materials, components and objects – ISO 354
■ Radiated sound power of
sound sources – ISO 3741 (Precision Method)
■ Airborne sound insulation or
impact sound insulation of building elements – ISO 10140
The design of a reverberation
chamber adopts smooth wall and ceiling surfaces equipped with a small number of
reflectors and low-frequency resonant absorbers to adjust indoor sound
reflections and form a reverberant acoustic environment. During design, the
usable volume of the reverberation chamber shall be maximized, and its sound
insulation performance shall meet the background noise specification of the
chamber. We will provide structural drawings and construction specifications
for engineering design as required, and assist engineering design institutes in
completing relevant design work. The floor surface is finished with epoxy
coating.
The reverberation chamber is
equipped with acoustic diffusers and CPA low-frequency sound absorption
structures. Its usable space is maximized to satisfy requirements on background
noise and reverberation time. Both the acoustic diffusers and CPA low-frequency
absorbers are manufactured from formaldehyde-free, non-fiberglass eco-friendly
materials that have been practically deployed in acoustic laboratories for more
than 20 years.
To ensure the background noise
inside the chamber meets testing standards and eliminate interference from
external sound and vibration sources, the reverberation chamber adopts a
room-within-a-room structural layout. This effectively isolates disturbances
from surrounding vibration and noise sources. We will support the client by
guiding acoustic design details, assisting structural design, specifying
acoustic construction standards to civil contractors, and providing on-site
construction guidance, so that the finished chamber can achieve target
background noise indicators.
