Acoustic intensity measurement is an efficient tool for sound source localization, sound source contribution ranking and radiated sound power determination. This method is based on simultaneously measuring sound pressure and particle velocity using two closely spaced microphones. To minimize interference with the sound field, the acoustic spacing between the two microphones of the acoustic intensity probe must be defined. For measurement accuracy, an appropriate microphone spacing shall be set according to specific test conditions. A larger spacing is required for low-frequency measurement under strong reverberation, while a smaller spacing is adopted for high-frequency testing. The PU probe (or PP probe) is applied for coherent acoustic intensity testing and analysis.
