Powertrain testing is generally conducted inside semi-anechoic chambers to guarantee high sound absorption performance. A typical layout of a powertrain test cell arranges two or four separate dynamometers outside the chamber, with only the engine and transmission installed within the semi-anechoic space. The dedicated sound insulation test suite refers to a testing system consisting of two special acoustic laboratories: a reverberation room and an anechoic chamber. Its core function is to accurately measure the airborne sound insulation performance of building materials or components such as doors, windows, wall panels and floor slabs. The test specimen is mounted on a standardized test opening between the two chambers. Sound field excitation is carried out inside the reverberation room, while transmitted sound energy is measured in the anechoic chamber. The sound reduction index (R) or Sound Transmission Class (STC) of the component can then be scientifically calculated. The whole system complies strictly with international standards including ISO 10140 and national standards such as GB/T 19889.
